Week 45 was active as expected for growing consumption in Russia this time of the year. The situation with arrivals in week 45 was as follows:

* through Saint-Petersburg - increasing both from Morocco (9 200 pallets) and from South Africa (9 700 pallets) ;
* through Novorossijsk – decreasing in comparison with last year due to problems in Israel and shortage of logistical possibilities in Turkey.

It effected the citrus market which showed negative trends for Moroccan clementines and South African oranges while the lemons remained with strong up-trend. Absence of Israeli capsicums on the market pushed up prices for Dutch and Spanish ones. Regions were mainly active excepting Novosibirsk where apparently too much fruits appeared in week 45.

Oranges
The price for South African oranges goes down by means of their increased arrivals. In week 45 it dived under 1,00 $/kg level. But, in case the offer didn’t contain sizes 88 and 105 it still could be on 1,07 $/kg. Old arrivals both from South Africa and from Argentina were offered on 0,80 $/kg and lower. Brasilian oranges appeared on the market – 0,88 $/kg. Since next week it is expected the new crop from Turkey to arrive to Novorossijsk.

Lemons
As Spanish stuff remains to be on sky high level (from 1,70 $/kg departure Spain) Turkish lemons were ruling the market in Russia in week 45. Almost nothing was offered in the south as the demand definitely prevailed – from 2,00 $/kg up all over the country.

Mandarins
Moroccan clementinas went down all over the country. 1,60 $/kg – level of Saint-Petersburg and Moscow. Turkish Satsuma followed the trend having come to 1,30 $/kg in Moscow at the end of the week despite of general shortage of Turkish production due to problems with logistics on Black Sea side.

Grapefruits/Pomelos
Grapefruits were out of the market in week 45 again. Many buyers were looking for large sizes which couldn’t be brought from anywhere. Some Chinese pomelos faced this season the shortage of juice inside. Price for them went down to 1,40 $/kg.

Apples
Prices for all the European varieties started from 1,75 $/kg so they were still the last to move on the market. All apples which were under this level were running significantly more active. Serbian Granny Smith 70+ – 1,36 $/kg, 60+ - 1,18 $/kg, Ida Red 60 + - 0,92 $/kg. Moldavian stuff was offered more or less around 0,92 $/kg as well. Among Chinese apples – yellow variety (a kind of Golden) was the leader of sales in week 45.

Pears
All the varieties were moving leaded by Conference. Prices for this variety remained on the same level as last week but the activity on the market didn’t come down. Lucas went up to 1,80 $/kg, Comice – to 1,74 $/kg. Rocha was cheaper in Saint-Petersburg (1,48 $/kg) than in Moscow (1,66 $/kg). Chinese Snow pears were sold on level 1,06 $/kg grabbing partly the market from Alexandrine variety – 1,42 $/kg.

Grapes
Reaction of importers on shortage of Turkish Sultana was too exaggerated – the decrease in prices goes on. In week 45 it reached 1,80 $/kg. Uzbekistani grapes were on 1,69 $/kg, Moldavian – 1,80 $/kg. Among Italian varieties the black grapes had the worst market whereas white Italia variety was running with some demand on 2,41 $/kg. Red Globe faced even some temporary shortage – 2,64 $/kg.

Kiwis
The sales of old crop New Zealand kiwi was eventually over. That emptied the market, pushed the prices for Italian stuff up and caused the demand. Baskets were from 1,77 $/kg up, loose – from 1,85 $/kg.

Pomegranates
Sales of Egyptian pomegranates became worse pushed both by large stocks in the south of Russia and by some arrivals with lowered standards. Price went down to 1,485 $/kg. Other origins, in the meantime, were not effected by that taking their niches on the market.

Vegetables
Iranian cucumbers yielded the pas of lowest prices to Turkish ones – 1,60 $/kg against 1,445 $/kg accordingly. Local long type cucumbers were offered on 1,93 $/kg level. Large quantities of tomatoes from Morocco appeared brought by vessels though with reasonable quality – 1,54 $/kg. Turkish tomatoes were offered on 1,80 $/kg level. Dutch onions remained the same – 0,39 $/kg – since last week with very slow demand. Capsicums from Holland were offered on 5,62 $/kg level using the shortage of Israeli ones. Spanish capsicums were even higher. Local vegetables in week 45 had following prices : potatoes white – 0,25 $/kg, potatoes red – 0,28 $/kg, white cabbage – 0,32 $/kg, carrots – 0,30 $/kg, beetroots – 0,26 $/kg.
