In the absence of Laaz only Millet is authorized to do it.

Laaz is absent for the moment but I believe Millet is NOT the only one that can delete posts. I also believe that Millet is not deleting anything. Why would he or anybody else do that. This is still a great forum. Hopefully Laaz will be feeling better soon and come back strong. There is a tremendous amount of information here. It would be best to limit posts to positive comments. I know everybody is frustrated but we all wish Laaz nothing but the very best. Tom

Just so you know, I am also a moderator, and I CANNOT delete posts (nor do I believe any other moderator can). I am not sure why a post would be gone, if it is something Laaz has done, or if it is an issue with this forum (and there have been plenty of issues).

What I would hope is that we can stay calm and resolved, and hope that Laaz will return. Millet is frustrated clearly, as he has reached out to Laaz several times and has not been able to get a clear understanding of why Laaz is MIA, and if Laaz would be willing to allow some/all moderators the ability to approve new list members.

So, let's stay cool, let's not get angry with each other based on something going on that is out of our controls, and hope for the best Very Happy

To correct something Hooserquilt wrote. On this forum there is the owner Laaz, then their is 14 moderators. This makes 15 people of which each and every one of the 15 CAN delete anything they wish. In Hooserquilt's case perhaps she thinks she can't delete or change post because maybe she has never tried, but she certainly can. As I've said before personally I will never delete your postings.

Every person who is now a authorized member, can post anything you wish. Do whatever you want, and fave fun, but complaining does not seem like a good way to have fun . - Millet

As one of the original members of this forum I find the current suspended state very saddening. It's so frustrating that we aren't able to get any of the moderators authorization to accept new members. I also find it strange that someone could possibly be undermining the forum by deleting new posts. I really hope this forum lives on as we have kept it going for almost 10 years. There is so much valuable information here.

I totally agree.
1- We mustn't kill this forum:
We don't delete posts and we only post what is acceptable by every people.

2- We keep it alive:
The information gathered for years must be kept readable by everybody.
Some of us are working on that. It means backing up the site and putting it in an other safer and better place than forumup.

3- We must make it living:
A forum need to be open to new members to be living.

Point 1 can and must be done NOW.
Point 2 could take months or years but we are not in a hurry as long as forumup doesn't close the site.
Point 3 could be done now if Laaz does it, or later on a new site somewhere else. Anyway the site is readable so we are not in a hurry.

You may remember that I posted recently about asking on the support forum whether anyone else could take over some of the citrus forum admin functions.
The replies I received were rather sad. It appears that the whole ForumUp system is dying due to the disappearance of its founder Raulken - in much the same way as Laaz has disappeared, he appears to have just lost interest. The ForumUp support staff don't even know whether the domain names for the forums will continue. That depends on Raulken's renewal payment method.
You can see the thread here

oh happy day, there is more need than ever to do a backup...
I checked "the webarchive" as it is often good for that, but unfortunately the backups there are only the 2 top level of this forum, so no posts are saved only the topics.

okay update.
I made a backup on waybackmachine, but it saved not all posts but we can do it manually
go to https://web.archive.org/web/20130718060603/http://citrus.forumup.org/forum-8-citrus.html
and click on every post you can find, if there appears a "resource is not available" click on "Save this url in the Wayback Machine" than this site will be saved.
I am not sure if this works and it is a lot of work to do, but at least a chance to backup the forum...
please post if there is trouble.

Agreed. I rarely post on this forum but read it just about everyday. I recently posted something on one of the "off topic" threads and had it deleted. Nothing I said was unacceptable, vulgar or anything like that but someone must not have agreed with my thoughts and took it upon themselves to delete my post, most of which were references to medical research. That's pretty lame...
