Could also be a fertilizer burn, because the coloration comes by the flash light and will be more intense, as naturally be.
As Mg-Deficiency seldom comes up with leaf tip burn... well, the picture shows much leaves with brownish, dry leaf tips...
So I do no want to exclude salt damage

SO I pruned the tree back, how long would it take for the branches to turn brown (presumably brown?) presently all the branches are still green....


thanks for all the replies, my guess is I desturbed the roots........damn shame I loved the tree!

If the branches are still green there is a good chance it will pull through. Try and keep it warm all winter, when spring comes if the braches are still green you should be good to go and will see new growth. Remember the Kumquats are the last to start flushing of all the citrus. My kumquats don't start flushing until May, whereas most of my other citrus starts flush end of Feb through early Mar.
