Ok heres a whacky one.
My mothers neighbour has 2 meyer lemons in her lawn overlooking the sea.
The 4 foot high trees have really suffered badly over the years losing most of their leaves and were due for the chop.
This spring they have got a new lease of life with young soft growth breaking out all over even on the old woody branches.
She swears that it was only after a friend told her to pour 2 litres of coca cola around the drip line of each tree monthly for two months (3 doses) that these suddenly burst into growth. I'm not pulling your leg.
Is this a pile of manure?...or do things really go better with coke?
I must be gullible because my sickly chinotto had it's first drink of coke this afternoon.

I think Spring's favorable weather had a lot to do with your neighbor's tree flushing new growth. - Millet (774-)

Figured that plus the fact we have had little wind lately however I wonder if it's just an expensive way to acidify the soil. I have no idea what coke does...probably just as well otherwise I wouldn't drink it.
Thank God she didn't try bourbon.

Coke contains Phosphoric acid, also used to control Phytophora ???
Molasses is used as a biological stimulant in some types of fertilizer, not sure if the sugar in coke would do something similar.
A couple of years back coke was big news in India as a cheap pest spray on crops.

Hmmm - perhaps i will save a couple of outdated bottles of coke and pour it around one of my trees come spring and see what happens. I wonder what it will do to citrus scale if i spray it on the tree???

OK, pass the 8 year old Wild Turkey. (no Coke in that stuff - just pour it on ice ) lLaughing

I would think it is like putting bananas around your roses.

The object receiving the most benefit from pouring Coke Cola around your citrus tree, will be the Coke Cola company, and the ants. - Millet (763-)
