I need some help to identify three rootstock that remain alive after the trees have frozen in cold winter five years ago.
The originally plants before they died were a limekat-Tavares or/and Combava.
PG1(supposed french name would be Citrumelo)
PG2(Supposed french name would be Citrange)
PG3(supposed french name would be Bigaradier)

Both PG1 & PG2 could be Swingle. _________________ Wal-Mart a great place to buy cheap plastic crap ! http://walmartwatch.com/ ...

PG1 definitely looks like swingle citrumelo.
I can't confirm if PG2 is citrange, but if it is, it would also be called "citrange" in English.
If PG3 is bigaradier in French, that would make it a "soar orange" in English... _________________ - Marc |

Do you mean PG1 isn't swingle? I used to have a citrumelo and the leaves and spines looked exactly the same as pictured here. I don't remember the bark though... _________________ - Marc |

I think the first picture is Carrizo Citrange and maybe also a citrange on nr.2

Thanks all for your clarifications.
In the first link you posted about swingle Citrumelo, the nervures leaves are whiter than the leaves of my PG1 tree.
For both PG1 and PG2, the leaves colors and the nervures color are rather the same the second link (Citrange).

The 3leafs look like Citranges to me, cant see much difference between the two trunks. Swingle usually has a whiter bark. The leaves dont seem to be broad enough for Swingle?? Not sure about other Citrumelo? I chewed some leaves today, Carrizo/Troyer Citrange has fairly bitter leaf oils, Swingle was pretty bland. Are the leaf oils of your trees different or the same?
Sour orange usually have bergamot scented leaves, some Sour hybrids are less scented. |

We tasted PG1 and PG2 at home. The first, PG1, has a scent and a taste rather plaisant. My GF says it taste like a Combava.
The second, PG2, after it has been chewed two seconds, spread in the mouth a taste a bit bitter.
My GF told me yesterday in PG3 "I found scents of Bergamotte". |
