For those of you who have been wanting to know some details on the 2007 Southeastern Citrus Expo.... I have a news flash! After talking with Bob McCartney of Woodlanders Nursery in Aiken SC, he has agreed to help host the event in Aiken this year. We talked about several things that will need to be confirmed before posting the final results but I will tell you that Bob has been instrumental in planting cold hardy citrus trees all over the town and a group tour of all of his plantings in definitely on the agenda. Bob went down to Florida back in the 80's after one of the devastating freezes and collected seeds from the trees at the Arboretuem that survived the blast. He then brought those seed back to Aiken and began planting the resulting seedlings all over the place. These trees have proven to be both fruitful and very cold hardy. In my opinion, a more dedicated "citruholic" would be hard to find! Bob has been in attendance at every Expo since the first one in 2002. Some other field trips are in the works for that Saturday but as I said, I will wait til things are a little more firm to announce them. The date is Nov 17th so go ahead and mark your calenders for this years "Citruholic" convention! Smile

Stan sounds good. I talked to Bob McCartney during the last two Expo's, he certainly is a good man. His tour will be excellent I'm sure. The 2007 Expo will be my third Expo. I'll be there with bells on my toes. I'll have to start praying early to the citrus gods, to use their magic on my trees, and produce a miracle fruit that I can enter into the competition. I'll need their help for sure, if I ever expect to have a chance of winning against you and Ned. Millet

Aiken is a great place to have the expo and Bob McCartney is not only a hardy citrus pioneer, but a plantsman with few equals. It just keeps getting better!

Aiken will be cool for me too! As long as my gig schedule doesn't conflict again this year!

Joan, we have a while to go, but, if you really want to go to next expo, let me know. MAYBE we can go there together as I can't afford to go there alone. You will be the FURTHEST away from the S.E.!!!!
You should get an award just for being there! LOL
I kinda don't think I'll go, but maybe if someone "pulls my arm" (OUCH), I'll go. I'll make sure (& so will everyone) you have a happy 60th!!
