Yesterday was 50's & raining all day...this am was 20's. Calling for a lot of snow from 3 am till noon - 2 inches per hour & up tp 35 MPH winds which will be blizzard conditions. This is Jan - Feb weather...never this early! A.M. rush hour will be nutso. Instead of 10 Deputy sherrifs on patrol, will be 40. 700 flights are already cancelled in Chicago for a.m. We could get up to 12 inches before noon.
Hey Millet, did you & Citrus Joe blow it over this way ? LOL
Gina & Stressbaby, Looks like it was/is your way too?
City has salt trucks all ready to go.
Trying to figure out how to shovel with only left arm. Hmmmmm...I will push shovel w/ left hand off to side of walk, & then KICK the bottom of shovel. Laughing If I really need help, I have great neighbors to help out (I hope). I will put out rock salt for us tonight making it a little easier to shovel. Maybe I'll post a pic tomorrow if it's as bad as they say.

I was thinking about you this morning Patty when they were talking about the weather headed your way. It was 7 degrees this morning and below zero wind chill. Tues it was 54. We have no snow yet but they say Monday could get some. I sure hope your neighbors help with the shoveling! Take care of you!

Patty, Citrus Joe and I had nothing to do with your snow storm. Last night the temperature was 20 BELOW ZERO (-20F) here. The greenhouse heater ran and ran and ran and RAN. Take care Sis. - Millet

sunny today.. but very cold.. I took a walk with hubby and took a few pics..
The power stayed on!!!! Shocked it flickered all night but never went out totally.
I measured 14 1/2 inches with drifts about 19+ inches.. found one drift was about 23"..
We took turns shoveling snow.
No mail was delivered today..

Here are a few pics..
My pond..

Neighbors porch...

Magnolia tree up the street from me..

Main Street *highway 75* looking east....

Main street looking west at the ONE stop light in town...

One mile round trip to main street.. usually takes hubby and me about 15 min to walk/ stroll.. we were gone for hr and half to two hrs.. but kept stoping to warm up when we could at what few stores were open.. acctually two banks and two stores (gas station and the only grocery store in town)
Now you know the "sticks" I live in.. LOL
most of the town was shut down.. Hubby didn't have to work today.. we heard that the roof fell in at the south plant and those that work there will have to work at the west plant where hubby works.. Cobalt Boats has locations all over town..

I'm off to drink up some more hot cocoa..

Hope everyone is fairing well!!! keep warm!!!!

Gee Gina, you even have a traffic light in your town. I would have to drive all the way into Denver (40-miles), to see a traffic light. Your town looks like a nice place to raise a family. I was surprised to see a Magnolia tree growing in Kansas. They will not survive here in Colorado. Thanks for the pictures. - Millet

Thanks for the pics Gina! You have some nice blue sky so the cold air goes along with it. We only got in upper 20's - maybe 30 which made the snow heavy & gradually compacted. I measured 10 inches on the table in pic here, but there were huge drifts. If temps were colder, the snow would be deeper. I have seen it 5 times worse than this, but never this early.
I thought about you too Joan, it stayed south of you, but you got the cold blast!
Back yard taken about 1:30 pm. Most snow fell off branches by then & it got compacted. Hope those fish know to go into the rocks for winter! There was no ice on pond! (??) Sun came out later.

I have 2 sets of steps to front door...6 to landing, & 6 more on porch to front door. They were 2 huge mounds..couldn't see steps. I got most snow off them & a little on walk but couldn't anymore. Went in & had a grilled chees & hot cocoa. Put me in pain so took a pain pill & went to brush snow off car & my neighbor Scott walked by - asked what happened to arm & offered to finsh my shoveling! What a guy!!! Few hours later, just after dark, police were here. Neighbor (Ernest) said I put snow against his house & they wanted to know what I was going to do about it. I tried explaing to them I didn't - broke arm, & that Scott did not put snow there & that Ernest is always trying to set me up. He has called police on me many times - made things up, even when I wasn't home! Every time I tried telling cops this, they yelled at me & then threatened to give me a ticket & charge me w/ disorderly. I just started crying. I called Scott to come over & help me & cops waited. He came & said he DID NOT put any snow on Ernest's house when he shoveld. Scott kept saying how ridiculous this all was as he removed this 1 X 4 ft. area of snow. We realize now that Ernest threw the snow there after dark when no one was looking & called cops on me.
About 2 weeks before expo, I did last day of yard work & Ernest had a dog in his yard that was barking & snarling at me & jumping on chain link fence like it was going to jump over, for almost 2 HOURS. He was right there the whole time & ignored it. I finally said "can you please keep that dog from barking at me?", & went on working. He did shush the dog up finally. Cops were here 1 1/2 hours later along w/ a paddywagon, ready to arrest me. Ernest said he has a restraining order on me (NOT TRUE) & I'm not s'posed to talk to him. Said I was yelling & cussing at him. I told cops... I politely asked him to keep dog from barking at me & they yelled at me for even talking to him! I was confused till they said I wasn't s'posed to talk to him cuz of restraing order/injunction he has on me!!!. I told them he was lying so they called in & checked. I hope they yelled at him when they found out truth before they left!! Stuff like this has been going on for years. I'm not predjudiced-- don't care if he's green, purple, yellow, black, but this guy is retarded. I have black friends & they say the same. OK, I'll shut up now - just very depressed. I never know what he'll do next - or when.
Naaa, I'm on a roll now. Last Nov. I took pics of my guava's in sunroom with flash & no flash, facing the south window that looks into his yard. It was dark. Now, I know he was in his yard watching me thru window..only way he coulda seen flash. I went to 'puter to post them on forum here & cops came. Ernest said I was in his YARD taking pics & that he had injunction on me!! PICS OF WHAT!!! Again, cops were ready to arrest me & I just started crying. I showed them what I took pic of, & that cop was nice. Told me not to get upset & left. I don't know what to do from all this harrassment. hE'S on SSI & has nothing to do but try to set me up. Thanks for listening ... I feel better now Rolling Eyes

Patty,
Sorry to hear about your pain in the arse neighbor.. Too bad there isn't something you could do about that.. Maybe the cops will get tired of his BS and tell him to get a life?? Looks like you had some of that stick to the walls snow too.. it was funny.. I took some pics of snow that was caught in spider webs! looked cool..
It didn't warm up hardly today. early am we got a sprinkling of new snow. *I think it was new*
My oldest son made a snowman.. mind you this is snow that doesn't "ROLL" so he filled our round trash can with snow and packed it in good and tight then turned the can over.. lifted the can off.. then chiseled out his snowman.. LOL put a jacket and hat on it too.. I'll have to remember to get pics tomorrow..
Millet, There are quite a few beautiful Magnolias here local.. There are a couple in Independence that are huge and very majestic looking.. I will have to get pics this spring when they are in bloom.. I have a small 3 or 4 yr old Magnolia in my yard.. Shame you can't grow them there..

one of my neighbors is a nurse at the hospital.. she told other neighbor (who told hubby) that there was a woman found just outside of town here frozen in her car!!! her car had gone off into a ditch.. I haven't heard who it was yet..
Please everyone stay safe!!!!
Patty.. don't over do it Hon!!!
Take care!!

Gina, I sure hope that woman was not someone you knew. I said a prayer for her & you.
We had some good packing snow for a sculpture here!
It is now in teens, so anyone who didn't shovel here will have to get a ice chopper out or they can get fined after 48 hours for not clearing their walk. A few cars in front have tickets on them as they did not attemp ot move them for plows.
