Hello,

I don't know if anyone remembers my posts from last year and earlier, but I grew a lemon tree 4 years ago, and it grew into a 3-foot stick. Thanks to the advice of people here, I cut it back, rooted the top cutting, and have 2 beautiful trees! I'm thinking these look pretty healthy? Thanks for all the advice!

Those are both very nice specimens! My initial meyer lemon seemed like a lost cause 2 months or so ago after I potted it with a bad medium and in a container way to big for a young tree. It lost all of its leaves and when I repotted it a month or 2 ago the medium was water logged (after a couple weeks of no watering) and smelled foul. Since the tree is slowly coming back to life and has sprouted several shoots of new growth (I should post some pics soon)! I got my first citrus (meyer lemon) about 4 months ago and now have 12 containerized trees and several different seedlings comming along. I owe all of my success to Lazz, Millet and all of the folks on this forum who have been nothing but helpful. This site is a great resource!

Wow, Tom, you did a great job with your plants! They look so healthy and happy.

What is the secret to rooting the cutting? Did you use a special rooting hormone? Was it easy? Did it take a long time?

Please share your secret.

Do you think the kind of growth-style depends on the pot? I have a lemon plant and a mandarine, both grown from seed. The lemon is almost 3 yers old, it is in a big pot, it didn't grow much in height but it has a lot of branches. The mandarin is almost 2 years old, it'is in a very small pot and it grew like a long stick with just a few branches (similar to Tom's tree)
