This year citrange Morton started to flower as usual, at the middle of April, but functional female flowers appeared only late, at the end of the May.
We had cool July and August, but by now fruits are starting to get a color.
I am hesitating to harvest them, they are so nice on the tree.
Fruits are very large this year:

What a great looking three How Large is it? Here in Denmark we also had a cool July and August, in fact the only real summer weather i experienced this year was during my vacation in Paris. _________________ /Mikkel |

The tree is roughly 2 meters high.
It was almost dead after great frost in January 2010 (-16C). Frostbites covered all the trunk, I was fighting for three months against fungal infection, but finally it recovered. I consider it was a lucky exception.
From my previous experience it is hardy up to -12C in my climate. _________________ Best regards,

As you understand, the taste is a very individual stuff.
For me the outside rind has awful strong smell, neither poncirus nor orange, difficult to describe, hint of leaves of carrot.
The pith is bitter, but juice is abundant and with sugar is drinkable. No oil droplets like in poncirus. My daughter liked it but my wife found it awful. _________________ Best regards,

I have two Morton citranges growing outside in England.
Both are around 2m tall and 15 years old from seed.
One was quite badly damaged by our lowest temperature ever recorded last year at -12C. However, I pruned away the dead branches and it has recovered well. Surprisingly the other plant was unaffected, apart from considerable leaf loss.
I am jealous of your fruits! Every year I hope to see flowers appear, but nothing happens. Perhaps 2012 will be the year. |

ilyaC,
beautiful tree.
My Morton citrange (5 y old, grafted onto Poncirus, inground since 2010.) behaves like a decidious tree, leafs yellow in autumn and fall with frost. _________________
