Last winter I had my lemon tree in a terracotta pot and sat it on a heating pad. This worked well and kept the roots nice and warm.

This spring I repotted the tree into a fabric "smartpot". I'm thinking that I probably don't want to set this on the heating pad since there will be water running around. Same thing with wrapping lights around the pot.

Should I repot it into a plastic tub for the winter just so I can apply heat?

Thanks,

Dave

Place the fabric pot inside a hard sided container and use either Christmas lights or heating pad. Is there any type of an advantage of a fabric pot anyway? - Millet (840-)

Well, allegedly they do the air pruning of roots. I had read about such pots here but couldn't find the rootmaker ones so thought I'd try these. My tree seemed to do really well with it over this summer.

Thanks,
