Have a look at this. A new flower bud on my Key lime.



Now have a closer look, the bloom is at the end of a thorn. This is the first time I have ever seen this. The best part is it is producing a fruit...

Some of the big box sellers glue small flowers on there cactus so they sell better at Wal-Mart...

Don't you wish all the thorns were like that? Getting pricked by them can be quite irritating. Were there other blooms on the tree?

Yes there were many other blooms. I removed them all when I discovered this so the tree could put all it's energy into that one fruit. I really expected it to drop off, but so far it is going strong. I'm just worried a bird will knock it off, we have a problem with those damn mocking birds here. They get into everything, I'm always ripping their nests out of my citrus trees.
