I have a friend Mike who lives in Antioch, California and is moving somewhere colder and so could not bring the bananas with him.
He has mature banana mats (group of corms) of various varieties: Dwarf Orinoco, Raja Puri, FHIA-18, A younger Dwarf Brazilian, and California Gold
Banana mats are the mother of mother of all planting materials in that you can propagate a lot more pups and have your banana fruits in the quickest time. The problem is, they are massive and heavy, and so Mike is looking for someone in the Bay Area and vicinity to buy his plants for very reasonable $$. These are very high quality planting materials. Mike's California Gold produced more than 50 lbs of fruit last year and is somewhat an improved (yes, they keep evolving) sport of California Gold (CaGold) in terms of yield and height. My California gold has fewer fruit and taller, while Mike's CaGold is the opposite of mine, and so I bought a pup from his CaGold a couple of years back. Anyway, he is selling some really big sized corms of CaGold if anyone is interested. His banana mats would cost a lot to ship, so I strongly recommend buyers who are willing to pick up the plants from his place in Antioch, California.

Quote: | Hey Joe, wasen't sure if you saw my post about selling some of my mature banana mats or not and just thought I would drop you a line since you are so close to me and may know some folks interested.
Let me know if you come across anyone.
For anyone within driving distance of Antioch California I would be willing to part with some of my mature banana mats (Some with blooms now). Mother Plant, several year old corm, plus pups. I have Dwarf Orinoco, Raja Puri, FHIA-18, A younger Dwarf Brazilian, and California Gold for the right $$.
I also have a 15gal Green Ensete available.
Not looking for any low ballers, just those who realize what they are getting with a corm of this age and would appreciate all the time I have spent with them.

I would like to get the Ca gold but it is out of my budget. Too much for me so I skip that. If someone or more can share the cost with me I would like to get it. $200 is the asking price. |

Benny, the reason why the price is so high because it is a mat. There are several corms and pups along with it. Each pup would easily sell for $50 on eBay. Corms are $150 each. But if you get the mat, you would have jump-started your banana fruit production. If you can wait, I have a friend who is paying me back with 1 California Gold pup this coming spring. He is the first one to get the CaGold pup from me, and it's payback time. But the fruiting time from pup is about 2 years which is still faster than from a TC plantlets that I gave you some time back. But the mat is really worth it.
Yes, you can split with Laaz and others here by mailing them the pups. Ask Mike about how many corms or pups that goes with it. I can then help you separate the pups when you go to pick them up. I can meet you there at Antioch. I also have another friend here wanting to buy the CaGold, maybe you can split with her too. I'm going to contact her. The demand for CaGold pups is high and the waiting line from my tree (free give away) is 3 years or more, that is why it is better to buy them whenever there is an opportunity like this one. |
