Okay, it's 100+ degrees, heading into fall, and my apple trees are in bloom. Is this common? I have 3 cultivars on two trees blooming and a bunch of others that look like they might start blooming. Any thoughts? One of them is a Winter Banana Apple that I just grafted onto an Antanovka rootstock about 6 weeks ago. It has about 4 blooms on it.

My Anna apple tree has small fruit and new blooms apearing on it now as it does every year at this time. I think a lot depends on the cultivar you have. The Late Summer/Fall bloom has never yielded numerous or decent size fruit on my tree but are great for snacking on.

My large Bramley tree has been pants this year.. just about 10 apples on the whole tree. I will try to give it some TLC next spring.

My pears and apples bloom in the fall, but not a full bloom. Seems like they just make enough flowers to catch my attention. I have never understood why they do this but it is common here.

Sometimes Prunus mume does that too. I thought maybe it had to do with a brief cold spell, but I may be imagining that.
