Just wondering, because I might be in the market for one.....

What kind of garden sprayer are people using to mix their various solutions? You know, the one where you jack the handle/pump up and down to create pressure in the tank; then spray your plants/foundation to get rid of weeds and/or pests.

What brand?
What size needed for a normal size house and yard?
Where did you buy it?
Your opinion on it?

Thanks...

Very Happy

I'm dreaming about the backpack sprayer from Costco...

What I have are the "Heavy Duty" cheapo type form Home Depot. It gives me a lot of exercise though, over-exercise as in fatigue and muscle strain. So I am not recommending them.

Obviously, I didn't get the one from Costco, otherwise, I'll spell out the brand name at this moment.

For most of my small jobs-- like oil spray or spinosad on new growth, I use a hand held bottle sprayer. That way I can avoid spraying beneficials if there are any around.

For my larger spray jobs, like spraying the yard or a job where I need to soak the trees (like with KNO3), I have a 2 gal ortho pump-up sprayer.

A few years back I got totally fed up with the plastic pump sprayers and built my own. I found a few Stainless steel fountain drink (5 gallon) containers. I picked up a cheap Harbor freight dolly, cut the wheels off and added 26” bicycle wheels. The containers (2 per sprayer) were attached to the dolly for easy rolling. One tank is used as the air reservoir and the other holds the mixture. From the air tank I use a small regulator to feed air to the solution tank. The air tank is filled to 110 psi (the tanks have a safety relief valve) from my shop air compressor. For normal spraying I supply about 5 to15 PSI to the mixture but for tall trees I can jack up the pressure enough to reach way out there.
The brass spray nozzle is adjustable so I can raise the pressure and close off on the nozzle to form a fine mist spray.
