I would really really like to plant one or more of my citrus in ground this year, but i dont have a green house. What other ways can i protect them? Im supposed to be zone 7b-8a but it did get to 4 F once this last winter, although that is a very rare thing. I have myer lemon, pink lemonade, nagami kamquat, kaffir lime, page mandarin, satsuma, bearss lime... i think that is it. In hurricane, ut where i live there is a washington naval in an unheated green house that does well, and in st george just a little warmer there is a meyer lemon up against a building that is in the ground and doing well. Other than that i have not heard of much citrus in ground here. I know millet has some planted in the ground in his green house but i wont have a green house for a while. I would love to hear of any suggestions or stories of what to do or has been done.

I would suggest taking a look at what Frank does in Massachusetts. His thread is under Hardy Citrus.
