Only got down to 26F Saturday morning, and I imagine it wasn't there for too long. I had 5 gallon buckets underneath some of my trees hoping it might make a tiny difference or at least let me know how hard the freeze actually was. The buckets in the back yard had no ice layer, while the ones in the front had a very thin ice layer.
Citrus - should be fine. only concerned about the new growth and buds on the key lime
Bananas - got zapped, only a few green leaves left
Avocadoes - frost blanket and Christmas light wrapped, new buds look ok, but sometimes the limbs turn black after a cold spell. not sure why
Peaches - were in bloom before the cold. I didn't wrap them, but I don't imagine they were too hurt by the cold?
Papayas - look to have survived unwrapped, not sure how
Looks like a mixed bag. Only problem now is that I have two washtubs full of citrus that I picked before the cold snap. Time to make some ambrosia I guess?
