Because I am on certain blood pressure and simvastatin meds I am advised not to eat grapefruit as they alter the strength of the medications.
That I can accept however I cannot find any info on whether this also applies to pummelo and pummelo hybrids.
I have just planted a Chandler which is a bit pointless if I can't eat it.

Poormans Orange is one of the most popular citrus fruit here. It is known as NZ Grapefruit and I haven't eaten them since I went onto medication just to be on the safe side. I see that it is probably a sweet orange x grapefruit hybrid.
Ugli is on some sites either descended from Grapefruit or Pummelo so thats another question mark ..
Seminole Tangelo (I have a large one in the garden covered with fruit) is NZs most popular Tangelo by far. It is a hybrid of 'Bowen' grapefruit and 'Dancy' tangerine. Another question mark?

My pharmacist and doctor wouldn't be able to tell a grapefruit tree from a pine tree so they are useless for advice.
So here I am..hoping that you guys can give me the advice I need...
My citrus and my health are in your hands Laughing

I looked into this a few years ago. Here is a place to start; it talks about some interactions with grapefruit, as well as pommelos and sour oranges: http://www.powernetdesign.com/grapefruit/general/mechanism.html

It appears from this study that the sour orange had no effect, but pommelos did.
