Ike came throught with a lot of high wind. We had one tree on the house and really no damage to the house except a bent gutter. On of the satsuma trees in the back yard was in horizontal position. It was stood up and staked. The front and back yard look like a battle vield with the trees. All totaled there were about 26 trees 6 inches or larger that was lost. We stayed home and did not evacuate. There were a few satsumas blown off and there were 8 seed total in the fruit the seed were salvaged. They will all be satsumas seedlings from these.

Bonnie, Glad to hear you made it through without too much damage. I hope all of your trees recover soon.

Bonnie, you and your wife are certainly a couple seasoned Texans. The important thing is the safety of both of you. - Millet

Good news Bonnie. I did not fare as well but I will get over it. Glad that you and yours are safe and your losses are not great. I got to spend several weeks in your state trying to get the lights back on. Got most of them on but the folks down on Galveston, Baytown and Bolivar Peninsula are gonna be a while. The peninsula has pretty much been wiped off the sand. No reason to build line to furnish electricity as there is no one to serve at this point. Entergy is building back the lost facilities but it will be a while and many millions of dollars that will be spend to restore it. Sorry that I did not get to stop in and have coffee with you but I was far enough away that I never got the time to drive...............no time off.......just a lot of work...................I will try to recover from Ike and Gustav and get some more trees started.........lost a lot of my rootstock and some of my grafted trees..............lost some grown trees too.....but as you said......my family is safe and trees can be replaced..............david

That's right David. The important thing is that you and Bonnie and your families are safe.

I have a few trees growing at a friends farm, the Miyagawa was broken pretty bad but still has edible fruit hanging on . The fruit are quite small this year due to the heavy load. Had one small tree that completely broke about 2 feet from the ground. Out side of these the other trees scame throught the storm quite well. In the back yard there were less than 10 fruit blown off. One tree was blown down but has been pulled up and tied off so I believe it will recover nicely.
