Generally speaking, Kumquats do not do well on their own roots. I have seen a fruiting seedling that was doing ok in Aiken, SC, but it was in very well drained soil ,and had a thorny, upright growth habit, that I found less attractive than a grafted plant. Changshou seems like it may be an exception, but I consider it more like Calamondin than a kumquat. |

Thanks for the info Ned!
I can only grow in pots, and am using CHCs/coir for plants bigger than seedings. I havent had any trouble so far. and im growing things from seed to learn grafting. Even if it doesnt work out, ill get over it. Ive got a really cute wavy-leaf seedling from last years seeds.
so yeah, if anyone wants to have seeds to play with, knowing they might not do well on their own roots, PM me. |

I know it's been a couple of weeks sense you posted this, but I don't get on here as often as I'd like to. If it isn't to late, I'd like to have a packet of seeds. If they're gone, or to dry now, that's ok too. I'm already running out of room in my new greenhouse already. - LOL - Hay, I can always find room somewhere. Right?
Please let me know one way or the other. Thanks. |

if you need a greenhouse tender.....
they were a touch green at the tops, and the seeds have been disappointing in frequency and quality, ill sift thru the rest of the seeds this weekend and maybe the WildOats near me will have quats in this week. |

The seeds arrived yesterday. I just wanted to say thanks. About the greenhouse keeper, that's me. I've been trying to get this done for 6 years & just finished it in time before the first frost this fall. Still have a lot of little things to complete, but it works.
PS/ I sent you a pm. |
