Some rat kid broke my Mexican Lime nearly in 2 about 2" above the graft.

All I had was some black electrical tape so I uprighted the lil tree and taped around the break, and staked and wired the tree.

Is there any chance it will heal and continue to grow or is it toast?

I don't know if the break will graft back together or not. If you made an almost perfect match between the two parts, perhaps, but I strongly doubt it, but you can always hope. However there is a better chance that an advantages bud will sprout from the remaining scion stump in the next month or so, to start a new tree. You can also cut off some of the more vigorous branches and root them. Let us know what happens, it's a shame. - Millet (1,334-)

Well, the bark seemed to be intact for more than 50% of the diameter, so I sterilized an exacto and trimmed off the splinters, painted it with pruning sealer, and staked it the best I could... So far the lil tree is showing no signs of shock or anything.

I hope it lives.

If it is any consolation, almost 2 years ago I had a Changsha mandarin snap 2/3 of the way through the stalk - about the size of a pencil and about 8' above the graft. The tree was several feet tall and was unsupported. Either my kid or wind snapped it. I gently placed it upright , tried to match it up the best I cold then braced it with a crude splint and then staked the stalk. Well just today I noticed the tree is in bloom - above where it had broken the main stalk. The tree looks fine though i don't know what the long term prognosis will be. I suspect the area is quite week. I will try and post some pics in the next couple of days.

I have repaired broken limbs using "splints", as Greg describes. If held firmly in place for a year or so they will heal OK. Don't remove the splint too quickly. Except for being so top heavy, they are not much different from grafts. Think how weak a bark graft is initially. If the top is too large to stabilize properly, you can reduce its size with a bit of pruning.
