I have a satsuma and a meyer lemon tree both in the ground. They have
an area around them free from grass but are planted in the lawn. Last night
i noticed both the underside and topside of leaves were covered in dew.
I have 4 potted citrus around the back of the house and there was no dew
on them at all. The ones in the ground look healthy and the leaves look
shiny but the ones in the pots dont tend to look as shiny. They tend to have
a more matt appearence.both my vainiglia orange and my tangelo.
With most plants you dont want to water the leaves overnight for fear of
disease. My question is = does it enhance the leaves of citrus to be wet
overnight or even foliar feed overnight?
Its an unusual question but are citrus prone to disease if left with wet leaves
overnight?judging by the two in the ground, maybe not.cheers

I'd prefer not to have the leaves wet at all. Perhaps a once a week occassional wetness on the leaves will make them clean, but that depends on how dry is the air in your place. If it is more humid, then there could be more diseases. Here in California inland, we don't worry about such leaf diseases during the summer even if the leaves get wet during lawn irrigation, but we get leaf diseases during prolonged wet winters.

Laidback, all of my trees are in a greenhouse, as I live in a cold area. I spray all of my trees down every other day or so, especially when the greenhouse gets hot during spring and summer. However, when I wet down the foliage, I spray so that the leaves dry before night. When you feed your trees by a foliar spray application, it is important to apply the nutrient spray early in the morning or later in the evening and NOT during the heat of the day. - MIllet
