I am going to discuss this with my brother this week end.. I believe there is same type tape that is made for high capacity in that it heats water.. an inline water heater.. When I worked at the plumbing shop some 12 yrs ago for a summer I seem to recall someone having this installed for a basement bathroom that was not attached to house water heater.. There was a shower and sink in the bathroom.. that stuff may be more costly than my needs though.. and maybe my memory is a bit faulty.. I'll talk to my brother though.. see what he can think of.. he is in construction, plumbing and heating/ac and can get lots different house products at cost for me..
Maybe he knows of some other product that can achieve the effect I want and still not cost me an arm and leg to do it..
Andi,, If I can't find any thing else I'll go with taping the lights to the side.. that sounds like a good idea!!! Just might do that any way.. But I'll still discuss other means with my brother.. and report my findings back..

Thanks for all the wonderful input!!!

Sorry for others out there, but the last soil heating cables have been commited!

Most soil heating cables have a built-in thermostat set at 74 deg F.

If anyone is interested, I have quite a couple soil heating cables extra after cleaning my garage.

They normally retail for $12-$36 depending on length. I guess I could sell mine for $5 per heating cable (unopened) that I can find. And for the used one I sell them for $2 each (will make sure it works) plus shipping and handling. They all have thermostat set at 64-74 deg F, and these are fixed. They are all between 6 ft to 18 ft long.

If no one wants it here, it will be gone to garage sale next week.

Just PM me if interested.
