A pup that grew from my first Chiquita banana, (the one that is shown in my Avatar), has grown up and is now beginning to fruit. The first Chiquita banana began fruiting after it's eighteenth leaf. Now, a year later the second generation pup has started to fruit. This time the blooming started on the 19th leaf. As the banana plant grows I keep removing all of the young suckers (pups) to provide as much energy as possible to the mother plant, then let a pup go on the 16 or 7th leaf. I should be eating bananas again sometime in May or June. Some weeks ago I let a third generation pup go, which is now about 18-inches tall. - Millet
