Yes, I promised them to you already ...
That is just for others .. I bought 10 Kilo ...
That is a very special quality ...
Grown organic, which means no poison and not even fertilizer (the rich volcanic ground has all nutrients the trees need).
The pulp is BLACK and the taste not only overwhelming aromatic with the taste of black and red berries from the wood and somehow very ol red wine, but for FULLY ripe even SWEET, not tart.
The quality of blood oranges is very different every year (like wine) and this year is a 100 years top year ... |

You must be getting the good moro blood oranges then...
I bought moro oranges at the supermarket yesterday (Sicily origin) and some of them were only acceptably colored while many others were like common oranges with a few tiny specks of blood. And it's like that almost every year. Taste was good though. And it should be as the price of blood oranges is much higher than of common oranges...
I'll be glad when the Spanish Sanguinelli arrive. Much better color and (to me) the best blood orange taste. _________________ - Marc

Hi Marc !
Yes, I am a blood orange expert and buy just the best.
Such bad quality as you say, we never get, for people here are used to real blood oranges, but I heard from friends in germany that they also often get such "quality" ...
You probably bought it from supermarket ...
Better go to a market and let you cut an orange open, then you see the colour.
Here in Austria the salesmen do that anyways and put them on top to proof the quality.
The spanish Sanguinelli = Red (Blood Washington), a pigmented mutation of DoubleFino, a Washington Seedling. |

Can you explain your sentence
contrary to :
"...Three blood orange varieties: Entrefina, Doublefine Ameliorée (Washington Sanguine), and Spanish Sanguinelli have originated as budsports from Doblefina..Doblefina (Doble Fina) of unknown Spanish origin."
http://users.kymp.net/citruspages/bloodoranges.html#doblefina
I can hear a bit of sarcasm and distrust in Marcs post |

Not contrary, it is same I said :
(Spanish) Sanguinelli/(Blood) Washington Sanguine is a pigmented mutation (bud mutation) of DoubleFino.
Sanguine = Blood
DoubleFina is a seedling of Washington. |

For me sentence :
"...Three blood orange varieties: Entrefina, Doublefine Ameliorée (Washington Sanguine), and Spanish Sanguinelli have originated as budsports from Doblefina..
Does not mean that Sanguinelli is identical (=) with Washington Sanguine
For me sentence : "Doblefina (Doble Fina) of unknown Spanish origin."
does not mean that, Doblefina is Washington seedling.
Sanguinello, Sanguinello .... |
