We had some WICKED storms blow through Charleston today. I got about 2 inches of rain in about 2 hours. I am very thankful for the rain, but the storms were so violent, it all but destroyed my chances at a state record pumpkin. It blew down and broke just about every leaf in the patch. If I hadn't of been doing so well, It may not of bothered me.
According to the "How to Grow Giant Pumpkins Book", you are suppose to name your pumpkins...mine was/is named Linus.....from the Peanuts Character. He is currently weighing in at 173 pounds, I doubt that he will gain much more weight now. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
I will keep you all posted if he continues to grow.
Darren

hey Darren,
maybe all that rain will make your pumpkin swell? 173 lbs, that is alot of pie or pumpkin ale.

hope it thrives,
