Last week I got some new plants. Some are impressive, others disappointing upon arrival.

Left to right, we have Dragonfruit, dwarf ylang-ylang shrub (D. chinensis), Sweetsop, Jaboticaba, Banana shrub (M. figo), Australian Brush Cherry, and Carambola.

I had heard the Carambola would grow well for me, so I was really disappointed in this plant on arrival...a virtually leafless 3" twig. It went into the plant ICU with the rest and it shows some signs of life...bud swell and maybe some new leaves emerging.

SB

The Ylang-Ylang came with four leaves and promptly shed 50% of those. There are some healthy appearing buds, so we'll see.

I'm very impressed with the Jaboticaba. It is a very elegant, dapper little tree, and it has already flushed out lots of new growth. It will probably be a decade before I get any fruit, if ever, but it is still a nice specimen. The Aust. Brush Cherry has flushed out some new growth as well.

Jaboticaba is as cold hardy as navel oranges. They make interesting trees. They also produce about 3 years from seed, but depends on cultivar. Some Jaboticaba cultivars also takes 15 years or more before they fruit.

Congrats on your newest members of the collection!
