FWIW, I took a scrap of 18 G stainless, roughly 2.5" long and 0.50" wide and rounded about the first 1" against a piece of 1" pipe. I then ground it to a round end and smoothed it and fit the square end into a saw kerf in a 4.5" long scrap of hardwood. I drilled a couple of holes into the wood and through the stainless for set screws, mounted the blade, and polished it with a buffing wheel and buffing compound. I like the way it works. I'll try to attach composite image taken from two sides on my scanner.

Can anyone provide feedback on this victorinox budding knife? I like the separate bark-lifter. I'm just not sure if that blade shape is ideal. I plan to use it for bark grafting.

Anyone have any (better) options?

oxtailpaksiw,
That happens to be the knife I use, it allows me to bud small stock but also bud and some grafts on larger material also. Its a little big for doing micro-budding but I've done material thats only 3/16 size.
I like mine!

Yes your correct, just the normal knife so to speak, the bark separator is usable on both edges ..
