I gave away my pawpaw tree but then snipped off one branch and stuck it on a pot and gave the original plant away. Amazingly that cutting grew and something is happening. Is this nutrient deficiency or pure variegated sport?
the pattern of variegation looks the same as that of most variegated plants and it is happening only on one branch for now.
Guess, I will have to nurture this, maybe repot it and hope the variegation stays.

Here's showing the regular branch and the variegated branch. This is a cutting that I stuck in the potting media and grew.

Hmm, kind of like the name. But first, let me see if I can make this cutting grow really well. If it grows big enough (pawpaws from cuttings are extremely slow growing), then you know where to look for variegated paw-paw scionwood, perhaps in 3 years of optimism. |

Variegated Pawpaw! That's great and a nice pic. I grew up with Pawpaws growing on the creek banks in WV. Recently, I've been collecting some for my yard here.
So needless to say, if it gets to the point that you have cutting, put me on the list.

Hi EZ$$!
My concern is not the patent, but making it grow bigger first. I would go for open-source rather than patent. Once it's big enough, we can have many budwoods to go around. Pawpaw trees that are very small takes forever to get going. i hope there would still be variegation next year.

Yes it is still variegated and alive, but hasn't really grown! It might die this winter, from the looks of it. |

Is this still alive? I am just getting into Paw paws so this post is very interesting to me. If alive, Have you tried grafting it on a seedling yet? |
