After doing what I thought was enough research, I chose to purchase a Lisbon lemon over a Eureka. Naturally, I read something yesterday about Eurekas doing better on the Pacific Coastal area than the Lisbons. We are in Sunset Zone 20,, about 5 miles inland from the northern end of Malibu, as the crow flies.

My question is this- at some point I want to obtain a Santa Teresa Lemon and I'm biding my time (with many of you) on the Four Winds "wait forever" list, I have a Meyer and the Lisbon. I was thinking of getting the pink lemonade as it is technically a Eureka and I wouldn't be duplicating nearly similar fruit with the Lisbon and someday the Santa Teresa... Anyone have thoughts on this? I have read on an AZ board that the variegated eureka isn't a great producer and didn't produce a lot of juice (possibly just for that particular grower?). I suppose in the end it's not that big of a deal, seeing as how I will one day have lemons coming out of my ears!

Also, the only live example I have of the tree is my neighbors who I am in the midst of helping her save it...it's been in serious neglect and is not very pretty...

From my experience the pink Eureka does not produce like the regular Eureka or the Lisbon. Just a cool looking plant.

`Copy Laaz on the Pink Eureka. In my opinion the Pink Eureka is a novelty tree, with rather low production of fruit. Also, about the Santa Teresa Lemon, it is nearly 100% identical to an Eureka lemon. I've had two birthdays waiting for Four Winds Growers to finally get their Santa Teresa Lemon trees on the market. They take my order, then they call and cancel it saying that they have decided to keep their present stock to propagate additional inventory. I ordered it only because of the tree's name (named after Saint Teresa of Avila). Four Winds should have a forest by now. - Millet (543-)

I think the variegated pink eureka must be a weak plant compared to other citrus species. I live outside the citrus growing area, but all the citrus plants I have do very well, except the pink eureka. It doesn't want to grow, leaves look ugly and drop off and flowers drop also.
I'm about to replace it by a regular eureka lemon.

I did take a bud from the pink lemon and bud grafted it on one of my other citrus plants. Not sure if it will take... it was the very first time I tried grafting! Wink

For me pink eureka is fast growing in ground but fruit production is poor. It is also an insect magnet, mealybugs, spidermites, aphids and white flies love it. The other variegated trees don't seem to have the problems of the pink eureka. It is so fast growing that I have grafted several others on it but they don't seem to be growing very fast. Has anyone else used pink eureka as a root stock?
