Quote: | So my first question is: is this a special type of clementine or is it just the Sicilian climate or earth that makes these clementines the way they are? |
Its probably more the soil and climate that makes everything grown on the island very special: rich in taste. Fruit varieties and grapes grown in the volcanic soil around Etna are just remarkable for the intensity of their flavor.
What you are describing sounds like a fruit Sicilians call a "mandarancio" a cross between a Mandarin and an orange. They are larger than madarini and smaller than oranges. They have seeds and can be very delicious.
Hope this helps
