This is a Tarocco blood orange planted in CHC/Peat moss, 3:1. I saturate the chips and I know it stays wet. It gets a lot of direct sunlight, almost the whole day. Why are the leaves pointing up like that?

hilltop - It seems like blood oranges do this sometimes? I have a Moro that is very healthy and has several immature oranges on it right now doing the exact same thing. We have has a heat wave her in NC recently and I notice it more consistently during midday sun. I would not see it as being a problem - your tree looks healthy. Think its related to heat, extended sunlight hours, ect. BTW, with direct sunlight all day, you may conciser a medium with better water holding capacity as you will be watering quite often. |

Thanks. I hope it continues to do ok. The leaves aren't really new leaves nor is it producing new ones. It has a few pea sized fruit managing to hold on. The CHC stays very wet that it takes little water to fill up the pot and get the water to rise to the top. BTW, the few leaves you see to the right is from a Moro blood orange and it is producing many new leaves. I just fertilized my trees over the weekend because I've been noticing a lot of new growth on the other ones. |

Hmm.... it must be something else, other than variety (only). I have two Moros and both have typical citrus leaves that do not point up. Neither does my Sanguinelli. But on my older Lane Late, the newer leaves (they are < 1 yr old, but not "young growth") are doing that... |

It is very normal, for the young growth of citrus leaves to grow in an upward position, exactly as shown in Hilltop's picture. Hilltop's tree looks to be quite healthy. - Millet (927-) |
