As promised, here's my bark grafted citrus. Sorry for the blurry pic, it was so hard, this is the best pic out of the more than 12 that I have taken on the same item. May need to borrow another camera with macro.

Australian Finger lime bark grafted to Calamondin. So hard to take out the bud and the stem so tiny, bark grafting was tried, and so far after three rainy weeks, still green.

Remember the 4th of July incident when the guest picked up calamondins, and fell down and broke a big part of the tree, it took along that side of the tree with graft and it was already sprouting. Will post other citrus bark graft pictures instead.

Gina, I can't still recommend finger lime on Cal. For one, all the T-buds failed but not the bark graft. Then on the bark graft, it started sprouting and had not had a chance to evaluate other compatibility issues. I may have to retry that again to be sure.

What exactly is a bark graft? Its really hard to see what is under all that plastic.

Joe, I find that, on average, I have fewer takes on calamondin than most other rootstock, but the one big advantage with calamondin here is that it is often slipping when just about everything else isn't. Sort of a backup place to stick that out-of-season bud.

I do have some finger limes on trifoliate that look like they are going to do just fine.

Ned, I've had plenty of successes T-budding to Calamondin. So far all mandarins that I've tried have taken. I was surprised that Golden nugget and Willowleaf have taken easily on Calamondin but not on satsuma (probably just the timing). Almost all satsuma will take on Calamondin, all the quats (kumquats, mandarinquats, limequats), have tried them all on calamondin, tangors too, bergamot, sour orange and yuzu, have tried them all without t-bud failure. Have to admit I had a hard time with the centenial variegated kumquat and limequats but they finally took.
