Hi,

Has anyone had any experience using gibberellic acid(gibberellins) on potted dwarf citrus and/or citrus seeds. Just wondering if this accelerates the germination of citrus seeds or overall time to fruiting stage of plants.

I've used GA3 for years. Because citrus seed germinates so quickly, and at a very high percentage, I have never bothered to use GA3 for germination. I do use it to "pollinate" the citrus flowers so that the fruit will be seedless. When sprayed on citrus blooms at a 1% solution, GA3 will cause the tree to set a very heavy crop. It does not accelerate, or shorten, the maturity time of a juvenile citrus tree. This is because it does not produce any additional nodes, it just stretchers the length of the internode. If sprayed at a too high of a rate, it can cause a mature tree to revert of a juvenile stage. - Millet
