I planted seed from the 1st Pond. lemon I ever had in about June '06. It's just under 4ft tall & skinny. There are 51 baby blossoms on it. I thought it would take 8 - 12 yrs to fruit! It's a nice surprise.
And, 2 days ago I picked my first & only honey murcot tangerine. That was the BEST citrus I ever tasted. WOOHOO Laughing

Wow, that's fast! Do you think it's true to type? Or does it look somewhat different to the original Ponderosa?

I think it's too soon to tell if it looks same. The leaves on original plant are scarce - as it is every year at this time. Too soon to tell if it will be true type.
Anyone know if it will be true to mother plant?

It is monoembryonic according to Webber Vol.1-Ch4 but is contradicted by "a low degree of polyembryony" in Webber Vol.2-Ch4.

So we're waiting for photos of fruits if they develop.

By the way, recently I planted some Ponderosa seeds and, by now, there are 10 seedlings - all monoembryonic. Hope there will be an off-type. Very Happy

Did it set any fruits? Were the flowers similar to the original Ponderosa?

It lost almost all leaves & I had to cut few dead branches off, but there is one baby fruit hanging on. The grafted one (mama) has about 6 fruits...hoping they all hang on. The blossoms were same as mama. We had such a cold, wet spring, I almost lost a couple plants. I've been busy, but will try to post a pic soon. At least it doesn't look so bad anymore LOL.
