hi all!

I recently obtained some plants which were grafted this year onto p.trifoliata.
I plan to grow them inground in my unheated greenhouse.
my zone outside of the greenhouse is 7 Very Happy
the greenhouse is quite big, so there is much air inside which can additionally buffer cold temperatures I think.
is it a good idea to plant those young grafted plants already this year? before winter I'll cover them with a fleece and fill the inside space with straw.
my cultivars are:

thomasville (grafted onto citrumelo and carizzo)
ichang lemon
some c.unshiu varieties
yuzu
yuko (older)
clemyuz 3-3
keraji mandarin
c. obovoidea bloomsweet or konkoji grapefruit
c.unshiu X poncirus

thanks for any input!
Smile

Hi,
Did you purchase your plants from the Viennese Citrus-show last weekend?
Maybe it will be a better Idea to keep the little plants in pots for another year. Maybe slugs (Nacktschnecken)could become a problem, you should protect your plants they are a great danger to young shoots.
The temperature in your greenhouse shold not go beneath -8°C. Keraji, Yuzu and the Xgrapefruit would not take less than that.
Regards
Robert

I do not have much experience of planting young citruses outside.
When I bought my first plants from B.Voss he recommended to grow them inside for at least 3 years. I followed his advice and after 7 years still have some of his citruses growing and even fruiting in my zone 8 garden.
