Just washing some chinotto seed and Mexican lime seeds I have gathered prior to sowing. I notice about 50% are floaters. Does that mean they will be duds?

It could mean that you haven't washed them properly. Maybe there's still a small vesicle attached to the seed coat, even the slippery layer around the seed can make it float. If you plan sowing your seeds straight away, you're better off removing the seed coat altogether, before submerging the seed. It'll not just help you determine the viability of the seeds easier, but it will also speed up their germination.

You also do not want to let the seed dry out.
