To Joenco & Millet.
What are you guys useing for soil mix for your guava & dragon fruit trees?
Millet, I saw you write that chc's are not good for our guava trees. What are you using?
Joe, I planted my Dragon fruit in at 4x14 inch tall tree pot. Do they like a more shallow pot? What are you using for soil mix for it? Thanks
Patty

Awe C'mon you guys...I need help here. I'm thinking that the tall tree pot is not good for the dragon fruit as it is like a cactus. Still would like to know what soil mix to use for guavas & what fertilizer to use (for guava)
Thanks, Patty

Patty, I have been growing guavas in a variety of mixes. Promix, CHC:compost, and loam/peat mix in the raised greenhouse beds...my guava seem to like them all and don't seem to care much. Robert

Robert, any way you can post a pic of your greenhouse? Ooooh, I'd love to see it! What plants do you grow? Sounds like you have an assortment - like me. And I thought you were only citrus & figs LOL.
Did you ever get guava fruit yet?
Patty
BTW, my guava is now getting buds & leafing out. I fertilized it with Peters 20-20-20 (as advised from Joenco)-- looking good now.
I transplanted the dragon fruit into a more shallow pot and added some cactus mix & fertilized with Jack's 10-30-20 & it has 4 new growths budding out.

Here is my GH.

I grown a range of tropical and subtropical fruits like coffee, lychee, mango, different bananas. This year the mango flowered but didn't set fruit. The lychee is about to flower. I have a tree tomato flowering now.

I've got some other new stuff coming next week or the week after, including a Dragon fruit. So you have you Dragon fruit in cactus mix? Is it big enough to climb anything yet? Pine Island has a nice variety of Dragon fruits, but I think I just got the species. Maybe we can eventually also get some Dragon fruit trades going, too. SB

Patty, sorry for not seeing your post. I now have four guavas. One is planted in the original soil that Tam sent it in. Some type of faster draining regular potting soil. This plant really needs re-potting. One is in equal parts CHC and peat moss, instead of the normal 4:1 ratio. The other two are planted in one part CHC, one part leaf mold, one part manure, and one part gravel. All seem to be growing about the same. Stressbaby, a very NICE GREENHOUSE. You can certainly be proud of that structure. It is also setting in a nice clean, and beautiful suroundings. - Millet

Wow Robert, that's a nice greenhouse! Thanks for posting a pic.
I just took a pic of my dragon fruit on this DARK & GLOOMY day-- took it outside for a better pic - HAH. It's 2 ft high (from soil) just as I got it last Oct. except now it has 4 little buds growing out since I fertilized (yellow lines).
Directions said to use 5-10-5 in growing season so it needs high phosphate. In reading up on it, I read that it won't produce fruit 'till it weighs 10 lbs or more. I know it sounds weird --I forgot to bookmark it.
Soil is some compost, sand, perlite & cactus mix. Needs good drainage. This cactus mix has a LOT of peat which holds too much water, so I only added SOME. It needs to be staked up.

Ok, here's a pic of it taken in sunroom --no flash, but it sure is bright in there!

Millet, if this doesn't look like a dragon fruit, I'd really love to see a pic of yours!
Hey Robert, I hope that link helps now that you will be getting one. Interesting that it says it only blossoms the 1st & 15th luner something or other LOL. (I'll have to go back & read) Also, it won't bloom till it weighs 10 lbs!
