hi.
i'm really glad i've found this site Smile now i hope someone can enlighten me as to whats wrong with my orange tree??

i've had my orange tree for about 6 years and its grown to about 4 feet, i've re-pottted regularly, not had any problems at all with it and it's a real talking point in the garden Cool , it's always bourne little oranges every year and i do feed it with the summer and winter food, this time around it's got lots of baby oranges starting to grow on it. but today i've noticed that the leaves are looking abit metallic/silvery here and there, as if its been sprayed or painted with something? Confused
just wondered if anyone had any ideas as to what the problem is..

kind regards. poskit. Smile

Hope you can post picture, it would truly be helpful. Sometimes metallic color is a prelude to yellowing and leaf fall due to old age of leaves. A picture could tell otherwise.

A really bad case of leaf miners also looks a bit silvery.

Putting a plant outdoors into much brighter light can also make the leaves look metallic/silvery. The same thing just happened to my maidenhair fern and my night blooming jasmine and I didn't even put them into direct sunlight.

Did you move your plant into a different location this year or remove a tree or awning that was previously present? Or did you grow it differently this winter? Am I correct in assuming that you overwinter your plant indoors?

Spider mites are the most likely culprits in the UK.
Citrus Leaf Miner is not established here, so unless the plant was infected from a recent importation, it can be ruled out.

Spider mites, I guess too...

Take a clean white piece of a paper towel and wipe the underside of the leaf.
If you got a black or brown-red 'dirt' on it, well, this is a good sign, for a spider mite infestation.... even bevor any web will shown.
