Or you can do like I did......dig up the Meyer Lemon tree and throw it out onto the compost pile, and then replace it with a good citrus tree. - Millet |

Well, limoncello is certainly a worthy undertaking, Laaz, and delicious. Millet, you kill me! I love my Meyer lemons But, like Laaz, they're coming out my ears right now. I'm thinking of actually pruning the tree down to reduce the fruit load. Sacrilege, I know. But, I, too, am running out of ideas. And folks to give lemons to. And, you can only make so much limoncello! _________________ Patty S.

Lemons are good for anything ... even for to put some juice into cleaning water or washing water for your cloths ... or the rind to parfume your cloths at washing.
Same in cooking .. almost everywhere lemons would improve a dish ... |

Why? Lemons are some of the best Citrus. No fish without lemonjuice, even water taste better with a slice of lemon. And the tree produce a lot of fruits and flowers many time a year. You will even have enough fruit to provide your neighbours and make them happy Lemons will probably save the world |

Esmark78, I agree with you about lemons. I have 2 actual lemon trees, a Genoa, and a Saint Teresa.. Meyer is not a lemon, it is not an orange, but it does make a great addition for the compost pile. - MIllet |

They are not as good as true lemons, but my wife uses them quite a bit stuffing them in chicken & turkey. It keeps the meat nice & juicy when roasting & does give off a nice flavor. _________________ Wal-Mart a great place to buy cheap plastic crap ! http://walmartwatch.com/ ...

You can disinfect a counter top by rubbing a slice of lemon across the surface. The acid in lemons is effective against most household bacteria.
To deodorize your garbage disposal, grind up lemon or orange peels.
Juniper chips or dried lemon peels work the same as mothballs. Simply wrap the chips or peels in a cheesecloth square and hang in the closet.
I found these tips on my Physicians Mutual Health Insurance news letter.

I was re-reading a great recipe for Meyer Lemon & Cardamom ice cream, and also found this great article in the Los Angeles Times, "100 Things You Can Do with Meyer Lemons", thought it would be apropos for this message thread:
http://www.latimes.com/features/la-fo-meyerlemons16jan16,0,5003872.story
And, here's the link for the ice cream recipe, this is being made and served for Christmas this year at our place:

I was somewhat surprised that Patty's fruit article in the Los Angeles Times was written by a person named Amy Scattergood. The usual author of fruit and produce articles in the Los Angeles Times is David Karp (pomologist) who goes by the title "The Fruit Detective". David is a recovered heroin addict who has turned his life around and made a very successful life roaming the world locating and writing articles on rare fruits and produce. David is a long time member of the CRFG - Millet |
