My Washington Navel, Tahiti Lime and Verna lemon are going mad with growth at the moment and the Tahiti is getting a lot of blossom. All this is the second time this year. Maybe it's because we've been having unusually good weather (for us) this September - 68 - 78 degrees during the day. I've heard of some varieties doing this more than once a year but all of them ...?
The Washington Navel is getting growth to keep it in shape and bush like possibly due to the harsh pruning I gave it in April, the Lime is growing more or less where I'd hoped. But the Verna just seems to grow from the same few branches and from the tip of the branch, I can't seem to get it to be more bush like, get shoots at an angle off these branches or get more growth lower down. It just sprouts like mad from these branches (that I've tried pruning before) and make them long and out of proportion.
I've read a few bits on pruning just above a leaf and in a certain direction, but if anyone's got any pruning tips that would be great.
