Laaz
I pray that everyone in Texas weathers this storm. Mr. Bonnie is farther inland than Mrtexas so he should have fared better. I hope everyone in the path of Ike is ok but those most venerable are most likely without power and cannot respond.
This really was the big one with 34% more energy than Katrina. Friday there were reports of 30’ seas with the occasional 50 footer in oil fields 100 miles south of Cameron La. Every oil industry dock from Venice Louisiana to Galveston Texas was inundated with water. All helicopters were evacuated Friday and when they return there will be no shore base facilities for them. They will have to fly from inland airports to go out to the offshore platforms. This is not a problem but each dock on the gulf coast is needed to supply the offshore oil industry with every imaginable supply including food, fuel and water.
Expect higher prices at the pump because it will be a while before production is restored. More important is that all in Ike’s path are ok. Please let us know that you are ok!
Sincerely Karl

I stayed thru it. Wasn't bad here in Beaumont, 60mph winds but for 10 hours. No damage except a few grapefruit knocked off. A new roof from Rita helped so no shingles came off. I had lots from the neighbors who repaired rather than replaced their roofs 3 years ago. In the morning the rain was still stinging. The next day we evacuated to points north. I am returning tomorrow with a generator.
