I've got a dwarf avocado I'm trying to grow here is Arizona. It's been doing well until the heat start hitting 105+. Anyone else growing avocados in challenging areas?

I live only a couple of miles away from avocado orchards and I have had difficulty with container avocados. I have only recently had succes this year with 'Bacon' getting a fruit on it after several years trying 'Littlecado' and 'Hass'. My 'littlecado has never set fruit and has been in ground for 3 years even when it was within feet of the 'Bacon'.

What varieties do you have, and what sun exposure do they get?

I have a Don Gillogly which is a new variety with a lot of hype, but I decided to give it a try. It's supposedly self pollinating. Sun exposure isn't a problem out here, rather proctecting the tree from the sun and heat is the challenge. I'm considering giving Holiday a try which is another dwarf type tree, but we'll see how the Gillogly does over the summer. It won't cool down out here until October.

I currentl growing two avocados one is Lula and other is mexicola
I do have 105 plus summers I would suggest putting a cage about six feet tall encircled with a shade cloth for first two summers after that there bark should not be as tender.
