Nearly every citrus I've ever owned, eventually developed scale insect. It's enough to lose interest permently in growing citrus. Any help in appreciated.

My Thai lime seemed to have come with a few on it. i didnt know what they were, so i flaked them off and squished them. had to go over it a few more times, but it seems to be working for a small potted plant.

Scale is actually quite easy to control, BUT you have to check the trees OFTEN. I sometimes just use the hose with a brass adjustable nozzle on the end giving a forceful water spray. Also a stiff brush. If you use a brush then you have to check the trees at least once a week. Controlling scale manually with a brush, is too difficult and too time consuming if they get out of control. Then I use Ultrafine Oil. - Millet
Hey Millet I've just tried something called "All Seasons Oil" for some scale, mites and mealies. Label says petroleom oil "Superior Paraffinic type". After some picking on my Owari I decided to try it. The leaves look shiny and oily of course. Any downside, i.e. leaf drop? I noticed a bit of hurt on very tiny new leaf groth which doesn't worry me. If there are any other effects I will wash it off with a soap plant wash. Any experience out there?
Thanks and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.
