I just recently had a friend give me a Keraji. I had to dig it up, out of the ground. Being that I grow everything in pots, Lots of reasons why, not important right now, I have put it in a large pot. The tree is probably 5 feet tall. I pruned it slightly to compensate for the roots I cut.
I am going to try and leave it outside as much as possible, I will protect it if it gets TOO cold. Here is my thinking:
I DON'T want any new leaf growth right now, BUT, I do want to re-establish whatever roots I may have cut in digging it up. Here in South Carolina, Fall is the best time to plant trees. Can I/should I give it an incomplete fertilizer-minus the Nitrogen- to push the root structure?
I think I should. I have to look around and see what I can get or have. I figure something like a 0-5-8 or something along those lines. Suggestions?
Darren

I would not give it any fertilizer until you see new growth on the tree.
It is in dire stress right now and you will add more stress to the plant if you give any fertilizer. You may kill it if you do.
I would hold off until it establishes itself first. And the only way to know is when it pushes new buds which means that new roots are forming under the ground. Once it does that then you can fertilize it.

Thanks Benny!
I got an IM from Buddinman that basically said the same thing.
He said to use a root starter.
I tend to get impatient sometimes and wanted to get this thing rockin and rollin.
Thanks Again!
Darren

Mr. Buddiman is one of my idols when it comes to citrus.
He helped me quit a lot for a number of years now.
he is SUCH a man!
