I tried chip budding for the first time this week. I was going to do some T-budding on some of my rooted trifoliate stock, but the bark wouldn't slip--even though it was starting to flush all over. Anyway, I wanted to go ahead and graft these cuttings, so chip budding seemed to be the answer. I guess I will know in a few weeks.

I did a couple bark grafts today on some rootstock sprouts on my satsuma. The bark slipped really easy on one of them.

It's been chip budding for me since January that I've been grafting. It's really time consuming to chip bud. Couldn't get the hang of it yet. Have very handicap motor skill with the knife. T-budding allows more mistakes than chip budding when it comes to alignment.

Yes, I agree, chip budding is harder, especially if you do not have good round budwood to match round stock.
