I went over to see my friend that has a herb nursery. She has lots
of greenhouses.
I brought her some neat citrus trees and some cuttings from my Miracle
fruit tree.
She asked if there was any thing I wanted, So I said that I lost my
Calamondin tree. She said that someone had given her 4 Calamondin
trees and I could take my pick.
I think all of the trees were grown from seed. One didn’t fruit
this year. I didn’t pick it.
One had green regular sized fruit that stood upright on it’s stem.
The fruit was over ripe and dry from poor watering. So I took a
cutting.
2 had meiwa kumquat sized fruit.
I took one of the latter. The fruit has thin but very sweet skin.
The flavor of the flesh is similar to a calamondin but maybe not as strong
and maybe sweeter. I’ve got to find some calamondin fruit to compare.
Needless to say, I’m very pleased.
I think I’ll make some wine out of the fruit.

Joe,
Thanks for the pics.
My calamondin is round and similar looking to a Meiwa Kumquat as seen in the first original pic.
Your pic shows a more flattened top and bottom and a more pronounced divot on the bottom.
In the first new pic my fruit is on the left and a calamondin similar to yours is on the right. The fruit on the right maybe larger in diameter than your fruit. This fruit is what I always saw in a calamondin. You can see the difference in size. The leaves of my fruit as a rule didn't have the point as noted on the larger fruit. The larger fruit as a rule did have the point at the end of the leaves. I could not see the end of the leaves in your pic to compare.
If you look at the second original photo, My fruit is on the left. The skin of my fruit was more in keeping with a kumquat. It didn't have the thin white webbing that is associated with Calamondin and the probable parentage of a Mandarin fruit.

In the second new pic of my fruit, I have different views of the fruit. My calamondin has only a slight divot on the bottom.

I did a search on the net for Calamondin photos. I found both shapes available.
Both shapes were called calamondin.
