Checking in; Millet, is there snow at your place? Its been on the news here getting folks all worked up,( they have to have something to talk about) The weather man was saying he remembered being in Denver one year and on Saturday it was 93 degrees and they woke up the next morning to snow, must admit it makes life interesting! Very Happy

Joan, I spent Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the mountains as the fall color change of the aspens are at their peak. All in all , over the week end I drove 918 miles (all over the Colorado mountains) The temperature was in the 80's. Then on Monday, it snowed up to 16 inches in places. Here at my farm (38 miles east of the Rock Mountains) it was only rain. I will take all the rain or snow I can get, as we are planting our winter wheat next week. I am glad that winter (my favorite season) is finally getting here. When we were in Aspen Colorado, the Aspen airport was already full of the private Lear Jets of our wealthy visitors. In Aspen, at the Hotel Jerome, a hamburger is $16.00 - Millet 1,211-)

$16.00, FOR A BURGER, HIGH ALTITUDE MUST BE THE REASON FOR THE PRICE LOL. HOPE YOU GET WHAT YOU NEED FOR YOUR CROP, THEY SAY NEXT WEEK THE WEATHER WILL CHANGE FOR MORE SEASONABLE CONDITIONS HERE, GLAD YOU HAD A GREAT TIME IN THE MOUNTAINS! Very Happy

We may be passing through Colorado next summer on our way to North Dakota with Kansas City as a waypoint. It probably depends on how brave we get with 3 kids on a cross country tour.

Philip, when in Colorado, stop by for a visit. I'm just 2 miles north of Interstate 70. Yesterday morning's low temperature was 17F (-9C). Excited summer is finally over, and a good Colorado winter is near. - Millet (1,192-)

Here, burgers at sea level are around $8 in a licensed establishment.
Mind you, at the high end joints I'm sure $16 is a reality too.

Cheers, Barrie.

Colorado is starting out with another one of its great winters. It started snowing around 5:00 PM on Tuesday. It snowed throughout the night Tuesday, continued all day Wednesday, Wednesday night, and the entire day Thursday. Still snowing as we enter Thursday night. Depending on the particular location up to 44 inches of snow has fallen. The more snow the better. I spent the day working on my citrus trees in the greenhouse 70F). - Millet (1,174-)

Thanks for the invite. If we go to Kansas City, we'll probably be taking I-70. Stopping by for a visit with 3 kids might be more than you bargain for though. Smile

So did you guys get all of that snow you were supposed to get this weekend yet Millet? I actually was just in Coloardo all week on a road trip with my cousin. We actually left a day earlier than we had planned in an effort to not get snowed in.

We spent the Tuesday-Friday morning up in the Boulder area (a cousin of mine just moved to Jamestown at about 9,000 feet) and checked out some of the smaller towns around there (Nederland and Estes Park were my favorites). Then we went down to the ski town areas friday night to saturday morning (stayed in Silverthorne friday night) but we decided to cut the Western ski town areas out so we didn't get hit too badly with the snow. We drove through Breckenridge at about 9 or 10 AM on Saturday morning but we just kept driving south on 9 to 24 and went down to the Colorado Springs area (Manitou Springs is a beautiful place!). From there we took 25 up to the Denver area and 76 up out through Nebraska (left Denver at about 2pm on Sat and got to Chicago burbs around 7am today). When I was out on the eastern side of Colorado Springs going north to Denver I saw a place (not quite sure where exactly) that had some green houses just like the ones you had posted pictures of. It'd be a very small world if I went right past your place! You sure live in some beautiful country Millet and I cannot wait until my lease is up in April!

Brancato, yes another snow storm came in on Saturday the 14th, dropped 2 inches and then moved over into Kansas. Then 24 hours later on Sunday Nov. 15th yet another snow storm (or 5th of the season) passed through, and dropped another 6 to 12 inches depending on ones location. It has been a great start to another Colorado winter. - Millet (1,167-)
