One of the branches of my Kumquat was bumped into and split nearly off, just sort of hanging there. After panicking, I pushed it back onto the tree where it's being held with light tape but I doubt it will heal. Will it? Can I remove and root the limb? Its a small limb, thinner than a pencil and a bit smaller than the palm of my hand with leaves included, and pictures of the tree are in my other thread on this page. Any help is appreciated!!

I had this happen on my limequat, I didn't want to cut the little branch off because it had my only limequat at the time. My branch looked like it had been twisted. The 'bark' was still attached in a few places. I just straightened it out and clipped it with the same clips I use to hold the branches to supports. My branch healed. I think I was just lucky.

Maybe we were both lucky, then. Or maybe we just underestimate how tough these little trees can be. I haven't yet removed the tape, but mine seems to have healed nicely. No change in coloration, no leaf drop, just a healthy-looking limb. Smile

Satsumas and Kumquats are difficult to root even under ideal conditions.
