Has anyone else tried both the Spanish and the Moroccan clementines? I have probably eaten 50 #s this year--two of the batches were from Morocco-- the rest were from Spain. All of them listed the variety as Nules, but the Spanish ones are smaller and sweeter-- the Moroccan ones are bigger, but have thicker skins and are not as juicy.

I still think they are the best citrus I have ever had-- although the Naval oranges and mandarins we got from So LA one year were very good.

It could also vary from yard to yard. Many citruses are strongly influenced by where grown and how you cared for them and the exact weather during the growing season prior to harvest. Size, rind thickness, number of seeds, sugars to acid ratio are all affected.

The year that the naval oranges were so good from So LA was right after a cold spell-- I don't remember reading anything about cooler weather making citrus sweeter, but the ones this year were not that tasty and were a little watery (and it was warm and wet up through mid Jan when I went).

Joe:
Skeet is describing exactly how it tastes the 'nules from Spain' you gave me. That's why I inundated with nules' graft my Chandler pomelo with it.
I will be happy if half of my grafts take and will be extremely happy if all will take.
I'll dance the tango in front of you if all will take.

I wish I had known about nules when I ordered budwood last year--now we can't get anymore from FL.

I hope yours make it Benny--and I hope your climate makes them as good as the Spanish ones!

I have been looking for a tree in the big box stores like Lowes and HD, but no luck so far.
