I have a Clementine mandarin grown from a seed, that was planted just 19 months ago in March 2009, that has a fruit already turning orange. Most any mandarin can fruit in approximately 2 +- years if properly grown year around in a warm environment. The tree is now about 5-feet (1.52m) tall and 4-1/2 feet (1.4m) wide. This tree was started by seed in a 2 inch square Root Maker Container (RMC), then transplanted into a 3-gallon RMC, then into a 5 gallon RMC , and now is growing in a 25-gallon RMC. I followed Dr. Carl Whitcomb's 4 inch rule as printed in his EXCELLENT book "Plant Production In Containers II" as my growing guide. - Millet (753-)
